Spring Hill High School Visual Arts 1
Overview:
Art 1 is an introductory course based on growth rather than aesthetics.
All students will learn about the elements of design, styles of art, how to understand art, and what the process’ are to create a piece of art.
All students in Art 1 are graded on the mastery of standards, growth and behavior in the studio.
Grading is done on a 5-point scale, please refer to the grading explanation for more information The goal for each student is to gain 1 levels of growth a semester.
Warning:
Some materials stain clothes. It is up to you to wear responsible attire and to take precautions to protect your personal items. No items will be replaced if damaged or destroyed.
Expected Behavior:

Grab the supplies you need for the project and be ready to work after I complete attendance.

Do not talk when the teacher is giving instruction or tutorials. Once finished you may talk and listen to personal music with headphones.

Do not play videos or music without headphones at any time.

Electronic Devices should not be used during instructional time. Put phones and devices away until it is time to use them.

No FaceTime, Phone Calls or Video Chatting during class. Emergency phone calls need to be taken in the hallway, in private.

Treat shared resources respectfully.

Clean up supplies thoroughly and on time.
Mr. Drew has the right to prohibit students from the use of these devices if they are being abused or if the devices have become a distraction.
Art fee: $20
This fee is approved by the Maury County Board of Education. It pays for the materials that are used in this class. If a student qualifies for free and reduced lunch their fee will be waived. Fees are due by September. Your fee covers all the supplies you need for class.
